The Right Way vs. The Wrong Way
The Wrong Way:
Meetings:
Don’t meet face to face! We strongly advise you to never set up meetings with insurance agents in your home, and in fact never meet face-to-face to discuss your Medicare Supplement information, Medicare Advantage Plans or drug plans.
Security:
Unless you are working with an established agent who has been referred to you, you really don’t know who this person is!
Pressure:
Newbie’s to this whole process will find it very difficult to learn what is needed to know about Medicare Supplements and Medicare Advantage Plans in a short amount of time. Agent compensation has been slashed dramatically (40 – 50%) since Health Care Reform.
Insurance Agents meeting with clients in person need to get you to enroll during one short meeting or they will likely not survive.
Unless you are dealing with someone new to the business who is getting his feet wet, you are likely to face significant pressure to enroll during your meeting. This is what our clients who have worked this way in the past tell us!
Medicare Supplement Information Overload:
Our website developer obviously didn’t learn to build websites in one afternoon. Understanding your Medicare Insurance options will be difficult to for you to achieve in a single meeting as well. It’s a process.
Our system allows you to absorb the information on your schedule not ours! We recently enrolled a purchasing agent employed by one of the largest corporations in the world.
This gentleman was highly experienced in analyzing products and making decisions. He spent a couple of weeks feeding us questions and digesting the information. There was good reason he liked our approach.
Service:
An Adviser’s job is not over when the enrollment is complete.
If you have questions or concerns about Medicare Supplement Information, you deserve prompt attention.
If the person who enrolled you in Medicare Supplement is traveling from town to town taking applications, it is going to be difficult for he or she to serve you properly when needed.
Given our clients are older, some of them contact us several times a month to alleviate their concerns or fears. Our advisers spend 85% of their time serving not selling!
The Right Way:
Take as much time as you can:
Years ago, when I entered the Insurance Industry, I elected to join one on the nations largest Health Insurance carriers. I felt that they could provide me with the proven training that could benefit me throughout my career.
After receiving my “training” with the company, I resigned 30 days later. I knew that I could not interact with people using the method and techniques that they required of their agents.
The basic tenets of this philosophy was to “sell the appointment”, provide as little information as possible, and get in and get out! I felt strongly that this approach was not the way I would want to be treated.
I tried to put myself in the shoes of a senior who might be buying a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage Plan for the first time. These folks are looking for products that were important for the future security of their family. I noted that they understood the importance, why didn’t the insurance industry?
I saw no reason why a patient, non-confrontational, educational approach wouldn’t work. I have spent years developing a system that blends with this philosophy.
Time has proven me right! Our system works, people like it and that’s why we get so many referrals! Give us a try! For more information, or if you have any questions, feel free to call Larry Belt at 248-741-7126 or 1-877-777-5260.
