What Plan G Covers
Medicare Supplement Plan-G is similar to Medicare Plan F. As long as the cost difference between plan F and plan G premiums exceeds the Part B deductible, it makes better sense to go with Medicare Supplement Plan-G.
We handle all of the carriers that offer this plan in Michigan. Everyone is familiar with Medicare Supplement offerings from Blue Cross of Michigan and AARP. However, there are many additional carriers such as Mutual of Omaha, Aetna, Government Personal Life, Gerber, Family Life, Equitable, TransAmerica, etc. Some of these carriers may be easier to work with and have better rates for Medicare Supplement Plan-G. In fact, Blue Cross of Michigan and AARP do not offer Medicare Plan-G!

Also known as Medicare Plan G, it has become an increasingly popular Medicare Supplement. It is identical to Medicare Plan F except that it does not cover the annual Medicare Part B deductible. In 2015 the deductible was $147.00. Medicare Plan F pays this, but Medicare Plan-G does not.
What if however, the “G” option had a yearly premium savings greater than $147.00? That is usually the case which generally makes this Medicare plan the more cost effective option. It offers great value for those willing to pay a small annual deductible. Plus, it has great coverage. It covers all of your hospital expenses, including payment of the $1,260 deductible normally collected for any hospital stay.
The Plan-G benefits are exactly the same for any insurer offering the plan, however the premiums can vary greatly between companies. Only accredited Medicare Supplements providers offer this plan.
